That Little Church on the Corner
So Who are we?
We are proud members of the Zilker Park neighborhood and have been since the 1960s . The building has changed a bit over the years, and so have the people, but one thing stays the same: we are a church that welcomes ALL people. We believe that every person has worth, and that Christ calls us to welcome everyone with no judgement or expectations.
We are a church family with a wide array of people~Singles, Young Families, Empty Nesters and Seniors. We are often found together socializing outside the church building--supporting one another emotionally, physically and spiritually.
We come from all over the greater Austin area. Henly to Elgin, Round Rock to Kyle. Our average attendance would be considered small by megachurch standards, but we're big on love and acceptance of all people.
Our ministry is 100% volunteer. No one from our pastor, to our speakers to our accompanist receive any compensation.
We hope you'll read more about us and drop in for a visit. We think you'll be glad you did!
A Little More About Us
Prayer
Our church believes in the power of prayer. Each Sunday, members hold up friends, family, and loved ones that are in need of comfort and healing in times of stress, illness, grief, and the daily challenges of life.
We have an email chain that can instantly send out any urgent prayer requests that arise during our time apart.
We also participate in the Daily Prayer for Peace, a prayer that takes place each day to hold up different countries of the world in need of God's peaceful presence.
Food for Friendship
FFF began in 1991 as an outreach to our neighborhood children and their families. Many participated in the free breakfast/lunch program at school but had little access to a hot meal on the weekends. We began with a simple pancake breakfast on Sunday mornings. The menu evolved, as did the people that need our assistance. While the neighborhood demographic has changed, the need for a hot meal has not. Our guests are now primarily homeless men and women.
This program is funded and staffed completely by church members. We are called to be Christ's hands and feet, serve the poor and hungry, and stop conditions that diminish the worth of persons.
Sunday School
In the Adult class we are studying the book, Choose Hope. Our class meets at 9:45 and we finish just in time for Rally to begin at 10:45. The text is a free download from Herald House or the print version can be purchased.
When we reach the end of this book at the end of November, we will be meeting to begin work on becoming a Welcoming Congregation for those in the LGBTQ+ community.
